Hi just looking at Adobe options and wondering if break out rooms are practical with 50+ attendees or more suitable to smaller groups? I have never used break out rooms and part of me just wants to try but wondering if it is going to be practical and/or useful.

Hi Krys,
Great question!Â
There is a thread about breakout rooms more generally, which will be a good place to start: https://lightbulbmoment.community/groups/opencommunity/forum/using-...
However your question is much more geared to really large breakout usage, which is a whole other ball game!Â
I've read this initially as 50 people per breakout...
This Adobe Forum thread says that you can have up to 200 individuals in a session, but I haven't found any other official Adobe material to say about maximum numbers of people in a breakout.Â
From a technical point of view, how a breakout could work with up to this many people will depend on your design. For instance, obviously 50 people with audio isn't going to work. So will you have them do? I've seen a whiteboard with lots of people (though not 50!) create a lot of bandwidth lag. You could get them to fill in notepods, do surveys, use the chat pod(s) or other items ok though.Â
On re-reading your question, it seems more like you would think about, say, 100 attendees in your session, rather than two breakouts of 50 people, you could have 20 breakouts of 5 people, or anything in between. It might be a simpler/different/better way to achieve what you want.Â
I'm not sure I would do a breakout very often with this number of people, but of course it depends on the outcomes, audience and activity you are thinking of. Certainly with smaller groups where people can discuss topics over audio, work together and perhaps make some kind of notes, it works really well.Â
You could also give it a go, be a pioneer and see what happens! I would design your breakout activitries, but also have a backup option in case everything grinds to a halt, so you can continue and people won't miss out on the content/discussion.Â
Some of the technical elements here are specific to Adobe Connect, but it's also a great question about breakout room usage with larger groups whatever the software platform.Â
Thanks for asking Krys, and do let us know what you end up designing and how it goes!
Me again... this might not have been quite what you were thinking, but another discussion thread about lots of people contributing to Connect whiteboards might also be food for thought: https://lightbulbmoment.community/groups/opencommunity/forum/how-be...
Thanks for the advice .... am thinking maybe break outs will be easier to try with a smaller group..... thanks
