Hi

I coach, facilitate and consult to a variety of organisations around the globe and was wondering what technology people use to achieve face to face meetings without being in the flesh.

Zoom is good but unless you want a meeing on the hour or half hour you pay, which I am happy to, but before I commit was wondering if there are others on the market that might be better for a similar cost?

Many thanks all

Best wishes

Lizzie

  • Hi Lizzie,

Thanks for the question. This is a good one as the platform you select for a virtual classroom, internal webinar or external sales/marketing webinar could all be different, including what you use more for meetings/coaching/consultation.

I imagine, and please let me know if I'm wrong, that you wouldn't need breakouts, probably wouldn't need feedback emoticons (green tick etc) and maybe not even whiteboards?

Of course it's a good place to start with what people might have, which could be Skype. If they are in a larger organisation they might have Skype for Business. If you have "normal" Skype you can still meet with them, they just need to send you a link. You can then either attend in browser or get a download of the software.

If you Google "meet me meeting" other options will be thrown up too. There are a variety of similar web-based tools that allow meeting within a browser, to make it easy for all parties.

What do other people use and what kind of costs are you finding?

Lizzie, do let us know what you find out and what you opt for :D

  • Hi Lizzie,

Although I use other platfiorms for various uses, I always use Skype for online coaching, just because I find that most people are familiar with it and so it makes the session flow better (also free). I have found that there are a few more nerves around with online coaching for the first couple of sessions than face to face, so I do whatever I can do to make it easier.

    Best wishes John
