Universal voice in Adobe Connect

We have come up against the challenge of our back office employees having no sound cards in the computers they have access to.

Essentially means they can't use VIOP - we have managed to integrate GlobalMeet and created the universal voice 'bridge' meaning we can use both telephone for those who haven't got ViOP and those who have can still use it.

A few things we've noticed -

- The host has to dial in via telehone now can can't use VoIP - means you have to be in a good reception area

- We can hear the host and others when microphone rights are enabled.

- No voice at all for those on telephone in a break out

- A video that is part of the session CANNOT be heard through the telephone but CAN be heard through computer speakers (for those with sound cards)

As anyone else use universal voice in Adobe Connect?

Is this the same experience as you or have you managed to get it all working seamlessly?

Any thoughts or alternatives / experiences appreciated

Mike

  • Hi Mike,

Quick response for now - there is a cable you can get that, in theory, solves this issue: https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/

You can read more on the conversation on my Facebook group.

There are challenges with VOIP/Telephony in Connect, so you aren't the first person to experience this.

    • Thanks for the reply Jo will take a look.

  • Hi Mike.

I've used universal voice quite a bit and seen the same challenges. Re: host connection, I prefer to use VOIP where I can, but have resorted to getting a full landline setup (with headphones etc) for these occasions. A few workarounds on this point though...

    • dial in by phone to open the audio conf, but then join a second time with VOIP and use that for your audio if quality is better.
    • get someone else to open the phone conf as a host, and you dial in by VOIP
    • use Skype to dial the the conference phone number (gets around poor phone reception). Skype will normally charge for this, so you need some credit.

Doesn't help overcome the other audio issues though :-(

    Cheers

    Paul

    • Didn't think about starting by phone then using VoIP.

Some good ideas there thanks but yes doesn't solve the root issue :(

  • Hi Mike,

Doing some Adobe Connect wandering today and have found these two questions on an Adobe forum. May or may not help you, but sharing and hoping!
