We ran some social media polls to ask people what was difficult when trying to facilitate virtual classrooms with activities.
This is what people shared:
The biggest issue people reported was for their participants to actually participate!
All sorts of reasons for this. It will depend on your audience, organisation, industry and all sorts down to the individual as to why people might not get involved.
This is a really good question to ask yourselves and reflect on. It can help focus you on what the key challenge is to getting attendee engagement in the sessions for your clients or organisation.
Other questions to ask yourself to reflect on this issue:
- Have the attendees been informed how the session will work?
- Do attendees not have the technology to get involved?
- Are your activities designed with good explanations?
- Have you followed a good introduction and engaged attendees early?
- Is there an organisation wide reason why people might not get involved?
- Have you tracked sessions and reflected on ones that attendees did get involved and why they worked?
