When we are designing any of our live online sessions, including webinars, we have a facilitator guide with all content and interaction details.

The activities we design and content we share builds up a bit like a story and, if we do it right, can have a huge impact on the engagement factor, the learning and then the performance back in the workplace.

Part of the way this document is designed is to help us make sure that:

  • We have interaction often
  • That the interaction varies as much as possible using different tools or methods
  • We don’t have lots of delivery that might bore you

You can see in the "technical/interaction notes" column that we have a variet of interaction methods, including chat and a word cloud. 

Also highlighted are the two text blocks which are delivery and a very needed part of live online faciltiation. However if you look at the "time on slide" column you'll notice that these are specifically designed to be short. 

This is just one example and of course other parts of a session will naturally have more delivery or longer interaction, such as a whiteboard and discussion. We hope that this highlights the above concepts to consider for your own design.
